Our Commitment
At Psalmix, we believe that music should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.
We strive to exceed industry standards and continuously improve our platform to ensure that all users can enjoy values-aligned music without barriers.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA Compliance
Psalmix aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and user-friendly for everyone.
We have chosen Level AA compliance as our target to ensure our platform provides a high level of accessibility while maintaining an engaging and modern user experience.
Accessibility Features
Keyboard Navigation
Full keyboard navigation support allows users to navigate the entire platform using only a keyboard. All interactive elements are accessible via Tab, Enter, Space, and arrow keys.
Screen Reader Support
Our platform is optimized for screen readers with proper ARIA labels, semantic HTML, and descriptive text alternatives. We regularly test with:
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) on Windows
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech) on Windows
- VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
ARIA Labels & Semantic HTML
All interactive elements include appropriate ARIA labels and roles. We use semantic HTML5 elements to provide clear structure and meaning to assistive technologies.
Color Contrast
All text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA color contrast requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Important information is never conveyed by color alone.
Responsive Design
Our platform adapts to different screen sizes and devices, ensuring a consistent and accessible experience whether you're using a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we acknowledge some current limitations:
- Some third-party embedded content may not meet our accessibility standards
- Certain advanced audio visualizations may not be fully accessible to screen reader users
- Some legacy features are in the process of being updated to meet current standards
We are actively working to address these limitations and welcome feedback on how we can improve.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. Our team regularly:
- Conducts accessibility audits and testing with assistive technologies
- Reviews new features and updates for accessibility compliance
- Provides ongoing training for our development team on accessibility best practices
- Incorporates user feedback to identify and resolve accessibility issues
